Cinematic.

It was good from start to finish, largely because you used a few devices that you rarely see in things like madness combat (although to Krinkels' credit, he gets more cinematic every time). Realistic smoke and blast damage, slow motion, point of view shots, and use of lighting and contrast in those silhouette shots elevate this above random violence and raise the bar for future animators. It's an exhilerating action sequence.

As just one criticism, the character's movements seemed kind of jerky sometimes, but it was all minor. I guess I was hoping to see more the kind of seamless motion you showcased in those silhouetted shots. I haven't yet acquired Flash, which I mention to admit I'm not in a position to judge. I know it's more difficult than it looks, and minor jerks are justified simply by the amount of movement you had going on at once. Taken as a whole, it was very smooth and realistic down to every crouch, fall, and lunge.

Oh, and I dig the extras. Fight on ; ]

Well some body parts get a little shaky in few frames like in "camper" scene. You don't see it while animating and it just pops up from nowhere. With 100-150 frame movements and avg 4 min for every frame to set it's a pain to go back. I did my best to plan every joint of characters. I'm almost sure that my next flash won't have such mini flaws. Anyway, thanks for this review, a very good read.

Even to a Liberal this is offensive.

Even people like me who will be glad to see the Bush administration leave don't necessarily approve of this kind of humor. It can be hard to be civil to your political enemies, but you are expected to at least show human decency when a fellow human being is in trouble. I think this is to some extent hateful and maybe should'nt have passed the judgement standards.

Someone once said the opposite of love isn't hate; it's not caring. You clearly don't care if Tony Snow lives or dies, which is not justified simply by hating the administration he stood for.

PropagandhiFan responds:

That's a shame

Good enough so far...

Your technique is sketchy and wobbly, and in the first minute you did'nt have any proper movement, but as it went on you showed clever use of black and white and enough saavy to make the celloists look lifelike and passionate. If you could finish it with more precision and reign in those shifting outlines, it would be better, but you got my attention.

Merol responds:

ok, THANKS MAN!!!

Make better plots.

Randomness does not automatically = laughs. I recommend a few hours of monty python to inspire you.

masterguy-1243 responds:

Ok. I love Monty Python

Dig the music, but I hope that morphing tree wasn't all there was to it. If it was, I don't know that this is worth watching. I know what "experimental" people are like, whether it's avant-garde music, abstract art, etc. I know experiments sometimes show good ideas. However, you aren't gonna get onto a democratic site like newgrounds unless you can make people "get it". I'm an 'academic' myself, and I didn't get it, so if that was just a trailer--fine, but if that was the whole movie, I think you have a lot of nerve. We're supposed to vote based on it's value to the average person, so you will have a hard time not getting blammed.

Pachira responds:

Well, it didn't.

Hey, I took your advice!

Pandoryk, I'm impressed! I'm the guy who sent you that "peace offering after a misunderstanding, and I followed your link. It's interesting how this was inspired by a song by that guy Snayk. I'm a beleiver now!

Taken as a whole, that was a very artsy, metaphorical statement about the cruelty of being forced to conform and leave yourself behind by the shadowy entities that seem to run everything. The part where he discovers his humanity at the end and kills himself was very poigniant, and the general atmosphere was austere and haunting.

Keep going, you're doing a wonderful job stylistically and substantially!

Pandoryk responds:

I'm very glad you watched this movie, and even glader to see that you like it ;)
Thank you for the review! ^^

Wow--needs work, but wow!

It would have benefitted from music and some basic whooshing and crashing sound effects, but that was some gorgeous animation.

Hitorio responds:

Ur right, I'll add that next time >:(

Pretty good effort, but not high-quality.

It's sweet that the author wants to extend father's day greetings to their dad, and it's clear that they're sincire. The art is sketchy though. That alone does'nt make it a bad video, and a father would be proud if his kid made that just for him, but it includes nothing really poignant, exciting, amusing, or skillful enough to be of interest to someone who's not in on it. It's just a parade of special food with a sweet little message at the end, and that does'nt exactly qualify as art for me.
Good audio track though.

Tolu910 responds:

God dude, I just wanted to send my dad something. For a quick flash, I think i did great no matter what you all say!

Does'nt show any merit.

I'm sorry, but it just is'nt funny. It leans entirely on random destruction/violence which is tasteless rather than funny, and each thing takes too long to build up to a punchline that is'nt funny. with all due respect, I think the author should start a practice of bouncing ideas off of other people to test whether the premise has any merit before putting the long hard work into animating it.

Pandoryk responds:

Your review is interesting but so subjective. Why? Let me explain a bit my movies:
"What an office life!" -> You didn't get the reference to a famous picture that I just animated a bit to create the expressive feeling felt by the man on the right.
"A new battle for SquareHead" -> I saw so much stick fight that I just wanted to make it short with an unexpected situation.
"DON'T PUSH THIS ****ING BUTTON" -> Really symbolic, A changes B but B disagrees and shows some "agressivity"
"Let's build a robot" -> you didn't see it, right?

I'm an out-of-practice drawer, passable photo-manipulator, untested writer, and can compose a tune to save my life. I don't know how to animate. I dabble in many things and have yet to get really good at any one. Here's to self-improvement.
