Awwwwww!

People appreciate when you do something like this. It shows time, effort, and empathy with your characters. 'Nuff said. It's sweet.

Real Good.

The rapid-fire dialogue was awesome. Why don't more people do it like that?

Wow--needs work, but wow!

It would have benefitted from music and some basic whooshing and crashing sound effects, but that was some gorgeous animation.

Hitorio responds:

Ur right, I'll add that next time >:(

Not much to it, but it was okay.

Not great, needed more story, but your animation technique was pretty competent.

As a coldplay fan and an artist, I respect this.

I like Coldplay so much that my username is based on one of their songs. Anyway, you did something brave making a video for a song like this. It wasn't perfect, and some of it looked pretty sketchy, but at the same time you nailed what so many people miss in animation: ATMOSPHERE.

Using nuanced images of stormclouds and very drab, bleak looking shades of color, you perfectly underscored the mood. By keeping the sketch-like pencil outlines around your characters and landscapes you kept it real-looking and fresh. You used a few metaphors well, taken from the song, and your recurring themes of power lines and deserted industrial landscapes makes it brilliant.

Finally, it was very suprising when you made the switch from flash player to digital video, but you did that well and kept it looking similar enough to the animation to carry the theme.

I write long-winded reviews, but it's just because I love this! Keep doing it!

Pretty good effort, but not high-quality.

It's sweet that the author wants to extend father's day greetings to their dad, and it's clear that they're sincire. The art is sketchy though. That alone does'nt make it a bad video, and a father would be proud if his kid made that just for him, but it includes nothing really poignant, exciting, amusing, or skillful enough to be of interest to someone who's not in on it. It's just a parade of special food with a sweet little message at the end, and that does'nt exactly qualify as art for me.
Good audio track though.

Tolu910 responds:

God dude, I just wanted to send my dad something. For a quick flash, I think i did great no matter what you all say!

Does'nt show any merit.

I'm sorry, but it just is'nt funny. It leans entirely on random destruction/violence which is tasteless rather than funny, and each thing takes too long to build up to a punchline that is'nt funny. with all due respect, I think the author should start a practice of bouncing ideas off of other people to test whether the premise has any merit before putting the long hard work into animating it.

Pandoryk responds:

Your review is interesting but so subjective. Why? Let me explain a bit my movies:
"What an office life!" -> You didn't get the reference to a famous picture that I just animated a bit to create the expressive feeling felt by the man on the right.
"A new battle for SquareHead" -> I saw so much stick fight that I just wanted to make it short with an unexpected situation.
"DON'T PUSH THIS ****ING BUTTON" -> Really symbolic, A changes B but B disagrees and shows some "agressivity"
"Let's build a robot" -> you didn't see it, right?

I'm an out-of-practice drawer, passable photo-manipulator, untested writer, and can compose a tune to save my life. I don't know how to animate. I dabble in many things and have yet to get really good at any one. Here's to self-improvement.
